Social Conscience

Of late I find myself becoming more and more disolutioned with people in general.

Hard words I know but true none the less. People seem to be caught up with the pursuit of their own wants, wants that see everything else left by the side of the road in their dust.

I am referring to peoples pursuit of things, the big house, the new car, the lastest this and that.
Not too many years ago people worked, got married and bought their first home, a modest little house but affordable.
They worked hard to make it a home, fixed it up over time and as the family grew and the mortgage paid off they would buy a another bigger and more modern. With their first home, came their family car and this was usually also a modest beast normally a second hand vehicle which took them to and from work, to the shops and on a Sunday outing with the family. The house was furnished with nice, but cheap furniture, also what they could afford or gifts from family members.
Mum stayed home to look after the kids or on occasion it was Dad but regardless one parent was home for the kids, one parent at work. The basics were covered and the nicer things came as time went on. And there was someone to look after and raise the kids.
These days it is a very different picture.
You work and get married or live with your partner, you buy a house usually a house which is brand new, in housing estate or that beautiful big house on the hill... what was considered in earlier days a luxury home.
You go to the caryard and purchase a car on credit, it is brand new, because hey no-one wants to be seen driving a second hand car.
Next you go and finance your furniture once again brand new on Hire Purchase, but image is the name of the game, and continue to fill your house with the nicer things in life.
All the things which normally you would have over time seem to be there from the start.
Both members of the couple work, and all is traveling nicly until child number one arrives, when Mum stops work for the standard 6 weeks, but that is ok because in 6 weeks time the child will go into day care, to be cared 5 days a week from 6 am to 6pm by strangers the parents feel comfortable with, who will be raising their child and both parents go back to work.
The child grows and starts school, gets the school bus to and from while Mum and Dad continue to work to pay for all those nice things they keep buying. School ends and the child returns home lets themself in the door, grabs something out of the fridge or stops at the shop and grabs some junk to have. Kids usually will watch TV, go on the internet or head to the shops getting home just before Mum or Dad.

In the 10 hours or so that this child has been unsupervised, all manner of things have happened, they have hopefully gone to school, hopefully had a good day and hopefully stayed out of trouble.
But what if they didnt, what if they didnt go to school, they didnt have a good day and god forbid they did get into trouble. There is no-one there to talk to, no-one there to guide them, and most of all no-one there to help them when they need it when it happens.
Most parents will say I gave them a Mobile Phone to call if they need something, if they a problem etc, but that is the problem.
What if they need a hug but dont know it, what if they need to yell and screem at someone and no-one is there, what if they are angry and cant deal with it, these are all things which happen on a daily basis to a child.
And dare I say it the reason so many kids today have the problems they have.
When a child has an issue and needs to talk to some one if Mum or Dad arent around they always will be someone else, it could be a teacher, it could be a family member, it could be a friends parent, but it could be the local gang leader, the local drug dealer, the local criminal....

A Parents job is not to supply their child with things, to give them everything they want on a platter, to keep up with the Jones or even to out do their own Parents, A parents job is to give their Child what they need and there is a huge difference between needs and wants.
A child needs to guided, to be encouraged, to be taught, trusted, hugged, listened too, disciplined, and most of all LOVED.
So next time you go to buy some thing else to place on Hire Purchase think about it ....

HOW MUCH TIME WILL IT COST YOU WITH YOUR CHILD?

and is it worth it.

Somethings are worth a little more than you think.

from the funny to the Weird!

What the heck is this?

Ok heres the story straight from Yahoo news:

CANBERRA (Reuters) - A cattle farmer in Australia's remote northern outback on Friday said he had found a giant ball of twisted metal, which he believes is space junk from a rocket used to launch communications satellites.

Farmer James Stirton found the odd-shaped ball last year on his 40,000 hectare property, about 800 kilometres (500 miles) west of the northern Queensland state capital of Brisbane.

But Stirton only started inquiring into what the ball of metal really was, and where it had come from, in the past week.

"I was riding out to check some cattle, and I came around the corner and there it was in a paddock," Stirton told Reuters on Friday.

"I know a lot of about sheep and cattle but I don't know much about satellites. But I would say it is a fuel cell off some stage of a rocket."

He said the object was hollow, and covered in a carbon-fibre material. He has contacted some U.S.-based aerospace companies to try to find out what the object really is.
Sydney's Powerhouse Museum said it was not uncommon for people to find spacejunk in remote areas of Australia.

In 1979, large parts of the Skylab space station fell to earth near a tiny outback town in Australia's west. A local council sent NASA a ticket for littering and then United States President Jimmy Carter rang a local motel to apologise.(Reporting by James Grubel; Editing by David Fox)

Do you know what it is!

I am feeling abit truman on that Movie 'the Truman Show' when the light falls from the sky.

Security Guard…."Anyone seen that guy before?"

Cleaner…."Whats that smell?"

School child…"Wasn't me didn't do it!"

Load speaker……"It's ok just a drill"

Nuclear Phycicist….."Do you think they'll notice if….."

Maintenance staff….."you have a healthy Glow"

Maintenance staff…."Where does this go again?"
